Missoula is at the epicenter of several great mountains for skiing and snowboarding.
Did you know Missoula has its very own ski area? Snowbowl is located just 20 minutes from downtown Missoula, but don’t let the short distance fool you. Just 30 minutes from the luxuries of downtown lands you in Snowbowl’s unbelievable terrain, comprised of 2,600 vertical feet and just over 900 acres. When it’s time to warm your hands and recount an epic day of riding, hit the lodge for their famously-good Bloody Mary’s and a slice of pizza.
Snowbowl isn't the only area that is just a short drive from Missoula. Discovery Ski Area, Blacktail Mountain, Lookout Pass and Lost Trail Powder Mountain are all trips that you can do in a day. Each mountain offers its own unique vibe, from the quirky locals that make the first lift every morning to the runs they ride. Lost Trail Powder Mountain lives up to the name, with what feels like an endless supply of fresh powder every weekend. In the opposite direction, Blacktail Mountain serves up views of Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park as the chairlift climbs higher. Just get your gear and go—winter awaits in every direction.
